Chicharito provides headache for Honduras’ Figueroa

The Manchester United striker has enjoyed a large amount of success against Figueroa and his Wigan side.

Sport News Flash 2013  -  The last time Mexico striker Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez came up against Honduran defender Maynor Figueroa, the former more than shaded the duel.

Chicharito scored twice as Manchester United stormed to a 4-0 victory over Figueroa’s Wigan in January, and the Honduran knows he’ll again be in for a tough afternoon in Friday’s World Cup qualifier in San Pedro Sula.

“Containing Chicharito and stopping him is difficult because he’s a player that is always moving on you, he’s a player that, for me, is one of the most skillful inside the area,” Figueroa told the Honduran press.

Since joining the Premier League giants in 2010, Hernandez has scored a total of six goals against the Latics and Figueroa was on the field for each one.

However, the 29-year-old defender knows that the former Chivas player is not the only threat El Tri possess and stresses that although the desire to defeat the northern rivals is huge, Los Catrachos are focusing on simply preparing well for the game.

“Everyone wants to defeat Mexico but we prepared the same way against Cuba as we are doing against Mexico,” he emphasized. “Tying against Jamaica doesn’t make them any less and us defeating the United States doesn’t make us any greater.”
