Roma priced out of move for Mancini

The Serie A outfit have lined up Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri as their No.1 summer target following indications the Manchester City manager wants a €5m-a-year salary

Sport News Flash 2013  - Roberto Mancini is set to price himself out of a move to Roma as the Serie A club make Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri their No1 summer target. Roma are believed to have been put off by Mancini's €5 million-a-year (£4.3m) salary demands following indications they could tempt Allegri to the Italian capital for around half of that figure.

Allegri's position at the San Siro is in doubt beyond this season, with Milan legend and former Italy manager Roberto Donadoni, who is currently in charge at Parma, the favourite to replace him. Roma are expected to dispense with the services of interim boss Andrea Andreazzoli in the summer unless he steers the club to an unlikely Champions League place. The Giallorossi lie fifth in Serie A, seven points behind third-placed Milan.

Roma's American owners have tasked general manager Franco Baldini and sporting director Walter Sabatini with recruiting a proven manager who can spark a change in fortunes at the Olympic Stadium.
The club are preparing to appoint their fourth manager in two years following the short-lived regimes of Luis Enrique and Zdenek Zeman, who was fired in February.

Mancini is among the managers who have been considered for the post as doubts continue to surround his future at Manchester City following a disappointing defence of their Premier League title.

The former Lazio and Inter Milan boss, who is in the first season of a five-year contract at Etihad Stadium, is believed to want around €5m-a-year to take over at Roma, a salary that is beyond the club.
Soccer News Flash understands that Sabatini and Baldini have made third-party contact with Allegri and are increasingly confident of striking a deal with the 45-year-old. Roma are prepared to offer a €2.5m-a-year (£2.14m) salary to tempt Allegri to the Italian capital.

Although Allegri's Milan contract runs for another 15 months, club president Silvio Berlusconi is considering a change of manager at the end of the season.
Berlusconi wants to appoint a former Milan player who is well acquainted with the club environment and his top target is Donadoni.
The 49-year-old is contracted to Parma until 2015 but the club are steeling themselves for an approach from Milan.
